Android 5.1 Lollipop Rolls Out for the New Nexus

For those of you who have been on Android Watch waiting patiently for the release of the new Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, your wait is finally over. While questions of who is going to get the newest version of the Android OS are still making rounds online, Android has come out with the news that the Google Nexus 6 is going to be the first handset to get the new Android 5.1 Lollipop.

According to Newest technology, the Google Nexus 6 will be the first handset to get the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, and the update will roll out for the Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10 in different phases. These announcements were made by the US carrier Sprint, which happens to be one of the first networks to offer the Nexus 6 handset, apart from Verizon Wireless.

Amongst some of the new features of the new Android 5.1 Lollipop update will be the operating system’s RAM management feature, its silent mode feature and OK Google, which is another new feature. Apart from that, here are a few other cool features to look forward to in the new Nexus 6.

Smarter Notifications

The new Android 5.1 Lollipop features an “until next alarm” option so users can save themselves from being disturbed by calls and texts, until they wake up. This newest feature takes the function which was introduced with the Android 5.0 further, and makes it more customizable than before.

New Anti-Theft Features

The Android 5.1 Lollipop update has also got some smart new anti-theft features that make the operating system more secure than its previous versions. According to Google, a new security feature is being introduced with the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS which makes it harder for users to add, replace or access user accounts. This also includes trying to log into a phone with their own user information after it has been wiped. While it’s not mentioned whether this new feature will be on the 5.1 Lollipop or a later update, at least users can look forward to the option in Nexus devices.

Safer Browsing

Since security is such a major issue these days, Google is also working on a new VPN service which offers a more secure browsing experience. And while the feature has not been officially announced of, there is a good chance that Google will decide to roll out the new feature with the Nexus 6.

Silent Mode

One of the best new additions to the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS has got to be the inclusion of its “Silent Mode” feature. This is one area where Android dropped the ball by keeping the feature out of their previous OS platforms. Luckily, users will get a chance to use “Silent Mode” once again in the Android 5.1 Lollipop version and ignore their friends, family members and colleagues in peace.

Why Wifi

We all have to deal with that one zombie wifi connection that shows up on our device but doesn’t work. The new Android 5.1 Lollipop OS solves that problem for us by remembering that bum connection like a bad date and ignoring it the next time you search for free wifi.

The new Android 5.1 Lollipop update was announced just hours after the Android Watch keynote and it is without a doubt that the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update comes with more than one cool feature you will want to have on your smartphone. Apart from the wonderful design upgrades, the new 5.1 Lollipop has quite a few of these cool features that make the OS a winner.
